Inspirations for the New Year

The start of a New Year is always when folks want to reinvent themselves. I used to make a big list of things I was going to do for the year and always found by mid February that I was slacking. It was back in January 2010 that I decided to live the life I've always imagined and stopped making resolutions that I wasn't going to keep and instead live every day fully and purposefully. And that has stayed true with me since then.

I am not going to say "I'm going to do this or have to do that...". Instead I will say "I am going to and I will do that!"

And so, without further ado... what is inspiring me today at this moment for the rest of my 2013! Happy New Year everyone!

This was the first lookbook for my vintage shop that I styled AND photographed, so I was a bit nervous about how they turned out, but now I am so tickled about them! Vintage Inspired Fashion: Luisa Beccaria Spring 2006

When it comes to modern day fashion, frankly I hardly know what's going on. What I know of trends and what the masses of girls should be wearing on the streets I learn from my day job.

I happened upon this old collection from Luisa Beccaria circa Spring 2006 and a collection has never resonated so well with my own personal taste. Well ONE OF my personal tastes. I adore beautiful pretty vintage inspired clothes but as much as I love all things ultra feminine and ethereal I also love just a plain pair of chinos and a chambray button up.






What I love the most about this collection is the color palette. Creams, pale pinks, pale peach. I'm normally not into pale green or pale blue, but it's so slight here that it is just beautiful. The applique details on the dresses, the soft ruffles, the whispery flow of chiffon...all absolutely lovely. I want to wear one of these dresses and float around.

Pretty Things: What's Inspiring Me Today

The year is drawing to a close...only a few days left of 2011 and that same old question rolls around: "What is your New Year's Resolution?" Back in December of 2009 I made it my one and only resolution to abide by this quote and ever since then I feel like my life has only improved for the better. I don't plan on making any other New Years resolutions, this one I made a couple years ago works for me and it's realistic.

Pretty Things: What's Inspiring Us Today

It's been a busy busy week my lovelies. Working on some new stuff for AV, slowly but surely! I'll be selling at "A Current Affair" next Saturday and Sunday so if you're in the LA area, be sure to come by and say hello! (More on the show later!)

I'll be combing the flea markets this weekend for industrial looking tables for the show. Hopefully I find some at a nice price (less $75... a girl can dream, no?)
